flickr winner of the week

We are pleased to announce that Franck Julien with his shot ‘Money Back’ is our flickr pool winner of the week!

We chose this shot to be this week’s winner as we feel Franck has captured so much emotion in this shot, which is a hard thing to do.

We believe that the composition and location for this shot is spot on. The styling and model choice is perfect and we love the cold gritty tones Franck chose to process with, as it really enhances the mood of the creation. Franck used a simple 3 light setup on this shot, which were all Nikon SB range speedlites. This image truly shows what can be achieved with a creative vision and simple gear!

Here are some words from Franck about his shot:

“As far i can remember i’m a huge fan of the early 1970 cinematographic visual style, so i’ve decided to make a set on this theme. So to make it i have to find some modele who represent, in my opinion, this style, look, wear and mostly have a special behavior. I must confess music inspire me to, and before shooting all of this set, i leastening “across the 110 th street” from Bobby Womack.

For this shot, i’ve thinkin about a man who waiting for something wrong, this gender of guy who inspire respect and fear because of his self control. A old train yard, with rust and wood is a good spot to waiting for the deal, calm, peacefull, no witness…

Technicaly, this shot is very simple. Three light where used. The first is an Nikon sb800 into a silver reflector umbrella set on the left. The second is a Nikon sb800 into a medium softbox on the right far from 6 feet. The third is a bare Nikon sb900 behind the guy far from 13 feet

Camera used : Nikon D200   Lens : 35 mm Nikon”

Franck is a French photographer located in Nîmes, France. Be sure to check out his work at his personal website http://franckjulien.daportfolio.com/

Congratulations Franck!
